COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s versatile all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has reversed his decision to retire from Test cricket and has been included in the squad for the forthcoming two-match series against Bangladesh.

Hasaranga, who announced his Test retirement last year, has made a comeback for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) series against Bangladesh, set to kick off on March 22.

The leg-spin all-rounder will join forces with Prabath Jayasuriya, Ramesh Mendis, and all-rounders Nishan Peiris and Kamindu Mendis to bolster Sri Lanka’s spin bowling arsenal. All-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva, appointed as Sri Lanka’s Test captain earlier this year, will continue to lead the team, with wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Mendis serving as his deputy.

The two-match Test series between hosts Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will commence on March 22 in Sylhet, followed by the second Test in Chittagong starting on March 30.

It’s worth noting that the two teams recently clashed in a three-match T20I and ODI series. Sri Lanka claimed the T20I series 2-1, while the ODI series was won by the hosts.
