News by “Sana Ullah”

Pace leader Jasprit Bumrah has been given a rest for the fourth Test against England, while batsman KL Rahul has been sidelined due to injury, announced the country’s cricket board on Tuesday.

Bumrah played a crucial role in India’s recent victories, contributing to their 2-1 lead in the five-match series. However, he has been released from the upcoming match in Ranchi, which commences on Friday.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated, “The decision was made considering the duration of the series and the workload Bumrah has shouldered in recent times.” Rahul participated in the series opener but missed the subsequent two matches due to a quadriceps injury. His availability for the final Test in Dharamsala will depend on his fitness.

Medium-pacer Mukesh Kumar has joined the squad in Ranchi following his release from the third Test, where India secured a resounding victory by 434 runs on Sunday.
