Ahead of the crucial third and final ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, both teams have been dealt significant blows with key players sustaining injuries.

Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka, who has been instrumental in the series so far, will be sidelined for the remainder of the tour due to a hamstring injury. Similarly, home team’s pace sensation Tanzim Hasan Sakib will also miss the decisive match after suffering a hamstring injury during practice.

Madushanka, who played a crucial role with four wickets in the series, suffered his injury during the second ODI, while Tanzim hurt himself during a net session.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed Madushanka’s injury, stating that he would return home to begin rehabilitation. The team manager, Mahinda Halangoda, mentioned that Madushanka’s injury is a new one, and the extent of his recovery period is yet to be determined.

On the other hand, Bangladesh’s Liton Das has been dropped from the squad for the final ODI after consecutive ducks in the first two matches. Uncapped Jaker Ali Anik has been included in the team in his place.

With the series finely poised at 1-1, both teams will be aiming for victory in the decider, which promises to be an exciting contest despite the absence of these key players.

The injury setbacks add an element of uncertainty to the upcoming match, with both teams needing to reshuffle their lineups and make crucial adjustments.
