Mohammad Nawaz Steps In for Noman Ali in Ongoing Test Series Against Australia:

Lahore, 23 December 2023:

In a recent development, the national selection committee, led by Wahab Riaz, has given the nod to Mohammad Nawaz as the replacement for Noman Ali in the current Test series against Australia. Noman Ali, the left-arm spinner, had to withdraw from the three-Test match series after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis, leading to a surgical procedure today.

The 29-year-old left-arm spinner, Nawaz, who is already part of the 17-member T20I squad set to face New Zealand starting 12 January, will soon be en route to Australia as soon as the first available flight is secured.

Wahab Riaz, the chief selector of the men’s cricket team, expressed his sentiments, stating, “It is truly unfortunate that Noman Ali won’t be available for the Test matches. Given the logistical challenges, including visa issues for any new player, and the specific need for a left-arm spinner, Nawaz emerged as the best available choice for the side.”

Regarding Abrar Ahmed’s availability, the team management is optimistic about Abrar rejoining the side for the third Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, scheduled to commence from 3 January 2024.
