News by Sana Ullah

Pakistan delivered a resounding performance, securing a convincing 10-wicket triumph against New Zealand in East London, South Africa, catapulting them to the top spot in Group D.

The Boys in Green displayed exceptional prowess in their chase of 140, with Shahzaib Khan’s remarkable unbeaten 80 and Shamyl Hussain’s contribution of 57* leading the charge.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand faced early setbacks as Ubaid Shah’s menacing spell caused disruptions, dismissing Luke Watson with a stellar delivery. Tom Jones and Snehith Reddy fell prey to Ubaid’s precision, leaving New Zealand reeling.

Despite a brief partnership between Oscar Jackson and Ollie Tewatiya, Mohammad Zeeshan’s well-pitched delivery accounted for Jackson. Lachlan Stackpole’s boundary spree offered resistance, but Naveed Khan’s strikes brought Pakistan back into the game, dismantling the Kiwi lineup.

In the chase, Shamyl Hossain and Shahzaib Khan laid a solid foundation, setting an aggressive tone. Shahzaib’s dominant batting led Pakistan to reach the target in the 26th over, solidifying their position as table-toppers in Group D.
