Perth, December 17th, 2023: In a dominant display, Australia crushed Pakistan by 360 runs in the opening Test of the three-match series at Perth Stadium. Chasing a daunting 450, Pakistan crumbled to a meager 89 in just 30.2 overs.

Resuming overnight at 84-2, Australia built a significant lead thanks to Usman Khawaja’s 90 and Mitchell Marsh’s unbeaten 63. Their partnership of 126 took Australia’s second innings total to 233 before Pat Cummins declared with a commanding lead of 449.

Pakistan’s chase began disastrously, losing Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood, and Imam-ul-Haq inside seven overs. Babar Azam followed soon after, leaving them reeling at 19-4. Saud Shakeel’s 24 was the lone bright spot as wickets tumbled at the other end.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood each bagged three wickets, while Nathan Lyon celebrated his 500th Test scalp by dismissing Faheem Ashraf LBW. Khurram Shahzad completed three wickets of his own to wrap up the innings, with Marsh named Player of the Match for his all-round efforts.

Pakistan will now face Victoria in a two-day practice match before heading to Melbourne Cricket Ground for the second Test, starting December 26th.
