RAWALPINDI: Zaman Khan’s superb four-wicket haul, combined with Rassie van der Dussen’s resilient half-century, guided Lahore Qalandars to their inaugural victory in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 at Pindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 163 runs, Islamabad United faltered and were bowled out for 145 runs in 18.5 overs, despite Faheem Ashraf’s unbeaten 41.

United’s chase began poorly, losing six wickets within seven overs with only 38 runs on the board. Although Azam Khan briefly steadied the innings with a 35-run partnership with Faheem Ashraf, his departure triggered another collapse.

Faheem, however, fought valiantly, forming crucial partnerships, including a 42-run stand with Naseem Shah. But Zaman Khan’s fiery yorker ended United’s hopes, securing a win for Qalandars.

Zaman starred with figures of 4/37, well-supported by Shaheen Shah Afridi’s two wickets.

Earlier, Qalandars set a modest total despite van der Dussen’s fifty. Losing early wickets, Qalandars relied on contributions from Shaheen Shah Afridi and van der Dussen. Van der Dussen’s 64 off 44 balls anchored the innings, with support from David Wiese’s late cameo.

Rumman Raees led United’s bowling with 2/19, as Qalandars secured their first win of PSL 9.
