KARACHI: In line with an initiative by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 dedicated a day to ‘Golden Ribbon Day’ on Tuesday to raise awareness for childhood cancer.

As part of this initiative, the match between Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans, scheduled for 12 March at Pindi Cricket Stadium, was designated as Golden Ribbon Day, focusing on childhood cancer awareness.

Both teams adorned golden ribbons and caps, while commentators also wore golden ribbons. Messages regarding childhood cancer awareness were displayed on the big screen and announced during commentary.

Additionally, the PCB invited four cancer patients to attend the event in Karachi, where they were presented with signed shirts from both teams. Players from Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans interacted with the young cancer survivors and posed for pictures.

The PSL shared on social media, “[Quetta Gladiators] and [Multan Sultans] players interacted with the little superstars.”

Earlier in the month, the ongoing PSL 9 observed Pink Ribbon Day for breast cancer awareness during the match between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans on 5 March at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Teams wore pink ribbons and caps, and messages regarding breast cancer awareness were displayed on the big screen and announced during commentary. Stumps were also turned pink for the occasion.

Both Quetta Gladiators and Multan Sultans have secured playoff spots in PSL 9. However, they are aiming for a top-two finish to advance to the Qualifier, where the winner earns direct qualification to the final.
