Quetta Gladiators’ fast bowler Mohammad Amir has lauded Peshawar Zalmi’s captain, Babar Azam, for his stellar batting performance in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9. Addressing the media in Karachi, Amir clarified that there is no ‘enmity’ with the star batter, emphasizing that any previous criticism was solely based on performance.”I have no enmity with Babar [Azam]. He played brilliantly against Islamabad United, and his century was commendable for his shot selection,” Mohammad Amir stated, extending his best wishes for Babar Azam’s continued success in the national team.Responding to inquiries about his international return, Amir categorically denied any plans to come out of retirement. He expressed his current focus on giving his best in the PSL.”I have no plans on returning to the national team. I am playing PSL at the moment, and currently, my sole focus is on giving my best in PSL,” clarified the left-arm bowler.Amir underscored the importance of four-day cricket for young cricketers, emphasizing that players should not be selected solely based on PSL performance.”Young players should play more four-day cricket to enhance their skills. PCB should attract young players to the longer format with lucrative contracts,” suggested Amir. “Players should not only be selected over their performance in PSL.”Commenting on the role of former Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed after his removal from the captaincy, Amir acknowledged Sarfaraz’s longstanding service to the team.”Sarfaraz [Ahmed] has served this team for eight years, which is a long time. He is still being treated in the same way, and the captain takes his advice.”Currently occupying the second spot in the PSL 9 points table, Quetta Gladiators have won three out of four matches.
