Virat Kohli to Miss Remaining Tests Against England:

News by Sana Ullah

India’s renowned batsman, Virat Kohli, will be absent from the remaining three tests of the ongoing five-match home series against England due to personal reasons, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday.

Kohli had previously withdrawn from the first two Tests for similar reasons, a decision fully respected and supported by the BCCI. This marks the first time in his illustrious career that the 35-year-old former captain will miss an entire home series.

After England secured victory in the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs, the hosts managed to level the series at 1-1 with a resounding 106-run win in Visakhapatnam this week.

The upcoming third Test is slated to be held in Rajkot from Thursday, followed by matches in Ranchi and Dharamsala.

In the latest squad announcement by the BCCI for the final three Tests, the returning duo of batter KL Rahul and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been included, pending clearance from the medical team.

Reports of middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer’s back problem have led to his exclusion from the squad, while speedster Jasprit Bumrah retains his place despite previous injury concerns. Additionally, Mohammed Siraj returns to the squad after sitting out the last game, and pacer Akash Deep earns his maiden Test call-up.

India Squad: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, KS Bharat, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
