Chennai Super Kings faced their third defeat in seven games against Lucknow Super Giants, falling short by eight wickets at the Ekana Stadium. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad acknowledged their shortfall in runs, attributing it to a slowdown in the middle overs.

Gaikwad highlighted the team’s inability to capitalize on their good start after the powerplay, managing only 62 runs in the following ten overs while losing four crucial wickets. This dip in momentum, combined with a period of 34 balls without a boundary, significantly impacted CSK’s total.

The strategic bowling approach from LSG, mixing pace and spin in the middle overs, posed challenges for CSK’s batsmen. LSG captain KL Rahul noted that this was a pre-planned strategy to prevent the opposition from settling against a particular type of bowling.

Despite late fireworks from players like MS Dhoni and Moeen Ali, CSK’s total of 176 proved insufficient as LSG chased it down with an over to spare. Gaikwad acknowledged the challenging pitch conditions but believed that an additional 20 runs could have made a difference.
