LAHORE: In a nail-biting Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 encounter at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday, Kieron Pollard’s explosive half-century proved decisive as Karachi Kings narrowly defeated Lahore Qalandars.

Karachi Kings opted to bowl first, and their start with the ball was exceptional as Mir Hamza dismissed Fakhar Zaman (6) in the third over.

Sahibzada Farhan and Rassie van der Dussen (26) then built a crucial partnership of 36 runs from the same number of balls before Tabraiz Shamsi dismissed his South African compatriot lbw while attempting a slog sweep.

Despite economical bowling from Karachi Kings, Farhan held firm, guiding Lahore Qalandars to 90-4 within 13 overs.

Shai Hope provided a brief spark with a brisk 21 off 13 balls, including one six and two boundaries, before falling to a catch by Shoaib Malik.

George Linde partnered with Farhan with the scoreboard at 121-6, and together they orchestrated a rapid 54-run stand from 26 balls, lifting the team’s total to 175 in their allotted 20 overs.

Farhan anchored the innings with an unbeaten 72 off 45, featuring four boundaries and as many sixes.

Meanwhile, Linde contributed 26 runs at a strike rate of 200, aided by three boundaries, including one six.

Hamza, Shamsi, and Hasan Ali claimed two wickets each for Karachi Kings.
