Cricket legend and former Pakistan Captain Javed Miandad has raised concerns about the recent appointments within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), asserting that the current situation in Pakistan cricket deviates from established norms in other cricketing nations.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Miandad emphasized the unprecedented nature of the developments in Pakistan cricket and urged significant efforts for its improvement.

Miandad’s comments follow the nomination of Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi as the new chairman of the PCB, succeeding Zaka Ashraf. Miandad expressed regret that those in power often bring their associates into key positions within the cricketing body.

“Whoever assumes the role of Prime Minister should prioritize the progress of both the country and cricket,” Miandad stated, advocating for a more impartial and merit-based approach to PCB appointments.

In response to reporters’ questions, Miandad asserted that, given the opportunity, he would address the current state of affairs within the PCB. He also expressed optimism about the Sindh Premier League (SPL), believing it could be a platform to nurture and showcase talent from the region. Miandad stressed that players from Sindh would benefit significantly from participating in the SPL.
