Lahore Qalandars’ skipper Shaheen Afridi has etched his name in the annals of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) history by joining an exclusive club of bowlers with 100 wickets.

During the PSL 9 clash against Islamabad United in Rawalpindi, Shaheen Afridi became just the third bowler to achieve the remarkable feat.

His pivotal moment came when he dismissed fellow Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah, marking his 100th wicket in the tournament.

Wahab Riaz of Peshawar Zalmi was the pioneer to breach the 100-wicket milestone in PSL history and still holds the record for the highest number of wickets with 113.

Adding to the accolades, Karachi Kings’ fast bowler Hasan Ali recently joined the elite club by securing his 100th wicket during PSL 9.

Ali’s achievement occurred during a match against Islamabad United, where he dismissed Alex Hales.

With just seven wickets needed to surpass Riaz’s record, Ali is on the brink of claiming the top spot for the most wickets in PSL history.

In a recent victory for Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad United, Zaman Khan’s four-wicket haul and Rassie van der Dussen’s gritty half-century steered the defending champions to their first win of PSL 9.

Van der Dussen emerged as the top scorer for Qalandars with a blistering 64 off 44 balls, accompanied by David Wiese’s quickfire 24 runs from 11 deliveries.

Despite Faheem Ashraf’s resilient 41, Islamabad United faltered in their chase and succumbed to Qalandars’ bowling prowess, ultimately falling short of their target of 162.
