Wasim Akram Raises Concerns Over Shadab Khan's Batting Position:

Former captain Wasim Akram has voiced doubts regarding Shadab Khan’s decision to bat at number seven during Islamabad United’s recent match against Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9.

Akram, speaking during The Pavilion, expressed dissatisfaction with Islamabad United’s captain batting lower down the order despite displaying good form in the previous match.

In the opening game of PSL 9 against Lahore Qalandars, Shadab Khan batted at number three and guided his team to victory with an impressive half-century. However, in the latest match, he was sent in to bat at number seven and managed only 11 runs from nine balls before his team was dismissed for 144.

“When you have a captain who is in form and scored 74 runs from 41 balls in the previous match, why wasn’t he sent in to bat at three or four?” questioned Akram.

“He [Shadab] mentioned in the post-match press conference that the pitch was a bit challenging, which is why he wanted to send in a specialist batsman. I hope there was a misunderstanding because if that’s the case, it implies that he will bat early when the conditions are favorable but delegate the task to someone else otherwise.”

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Multan Sultans secured a five-wicket victory over Islamabad United, propelled by Reeza Hendricks’s second consecutive half-century.
