The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the ICC Awards 2023, which will spotlight the standout performers in international cricket over the past year. The program will encompass 13 categories, recognizing individual excellence in men’s and women’s cricket formats, culminating in prestigious awards like the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
The shortlists for nine categories will be disclosed from January 3 to January 5, 2024, on ICC official platforms, each featuring four nominees. These categories include ICC Emerging Men’s and Women’s Cricketers of the Year, Men’s and Women’s T20I Cricketers of the Year, Men’s and Women’s ODI Cricketers of the Year, ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year, Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year, and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
A specialist panel of cricket writers and broadcasters determined the shortlists based on on-field performances and overall achievements in international cricket throughout the calendar year.
Voting for the individual winners will involve a larger panel comprising global media representatives, the ICC Voting Academy, and cricket fans worldwide. Starting from January 3, 2024, fans can cast their votes for their preferred performers on the ICC website. The ICC Voting Academy selections and fans’ votes will be combined to determine the winners in the nine categories.
The ICC Awards 2023 will also celebrate other categories such as the ICC Men’s and Women’s Associate Cricketers of the Year, the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award, and the ICC Umpire of the Year, bringing the total to 13 prestigious prizes. Additionally, five ICC Teams of the Year will be decided by the ICC Voting Academy, recognizing the standout XIs in men’s and women’s international cricket.
Winners of the ICC Awards 2023 will be announced later in January 2024 following the conclusion of the voting period.
