In an impeccable display, Australia achieved the second-highest successful run chase in the history of women’s ODIs, securing a convincing six-wicket victory over India in Mumbai.

Phoebe Litchfield (78 off 89 balls) and Ellyse Perry (75 off 72) set the stage for the chase of India’s 8-282 at Wankhede Stadium, with Tahlia McGrath (68 not out off 55) steering the team to victory with 21 balls to spare. Beth Mooney’s contribution (42 off 47) further bolstered the Australian comeback after their one-off Test defeat, giving them a 1-0 lead in the three-game one-day series.

This remarkable achievement marked the highest successful chase in a women’s ODI, both in India and overall, second only to Australia’s 6-289 against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval in 2012.

Australia faced an early setback in their chase as Alyssa Healy was brilliantly caught by a diving Sneh Rana for a duck from the third ball of the innings. Despite this, the team recovered with resilience to achieve a historic victory in Mumbai.
