In a significant feat, young southpaw opener Saim Ayub achieved a notable milestone by becoming the youngest Pakistani batsman to notch up 100 sixes in T20 cricket.

Representing Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Saim had an exceptional season, showcasing prowess with both bat and ball.

Finishing as one of the top run-scorers in the tournament, Saim amassed 345 runs in 11 innings at an impressive average of 31.36 and a striking rate of 157.53. His standout performance came in the Eliminator 2 against Peshawar Zalmi, where he crafted a brilliant 73-run innings, embellished with six boundaries and four towering sixes.

At the age of 21 years and 297 days, Saim Ayub eclipsed the previous record holder, Haider Ali, who achieved the milestone at 22 years and 259 days, thus becoming the fastest Pakistani to reach 100 T20 sixes.

Noteworthy is Saim’s dominance in PSL 9, leading the sixes tally with 21 hits over the ropes in 11 innings.

Despite Saim Ayub’s stellar all-round contributions, Islamabad United emerged victorious against Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator 2, setting up a thrilling PSL 9 final showdown with Multan Sultans.

The journey to the final wasn’t smooth for Islamabad United, as they found themselves struggling at 91/5 while chasing a formidable total of 186 runs. However, a remarkable partnership between Imad Wasim and Haider Ali steered them to victory.

Imad’s unbeaten 59 off 40 deliveries, accompanied by Haider’s aggressive 52 off 29 balls, propelled Islamabad United to victory, clinching their spot in the PSL 9 final.
