In a surprising turn of events, the fundraising event for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centres (SKMCH & RC) scheduled for December 29 at a local hotel in Islamabad faced cancellation, prompting Pakistan cricket team’s spin bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan to express his concerns.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Shadab Khan questioned the rationale behind preventing Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital from organizing a crucial fundraising event. In his statement, Shadab emphasized the significant role cancer hospitals play in society, praising SKMCH’s consistent commitment to exemplary work.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration had revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC/permit) for the fundraising event on December 28, adding a layer of controversy to the situation. This unexpected decision stirred Shadab Khan to publicly voice his support for the cancer hospital and its noble cause.

Acknowledging the hospital’s international recognition, President Arif Alvi issued a statement urging the withdrawal of the decision to revoke permission for SKCMH to collect funds. The unfolding controversy has drawn attention not only from the cricketing world but also from influential figures in the political arena.
