The Bangladesh Men’s Cricket Team is set to embark on a journey to the United States of America (USA) for a three-match T20I series ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as announced by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday.

This historic tour for Bangladesh marks the inaugural encounter between the two teams in the shortest format.

The BCB views this three-match series as a crucial step in preparation for the T20 World Cup, slated to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, emphasized the significance of this tour as an opportunity for the team to adapt to the conditions ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

“We understand the importance of this preparatory phase and are fully committed to maximizing the benefits of this invaluable experience,” stated Chowdhury.

Bangladesh has previously played only two T20Is in the USA, both against the West Indies in 2018. The Asian Tigers are set to kick off their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign in the USA, facing Sri Lanka and South Africa in Dallas and New York, respectively.

In anticipation of the groundbreaking series against Bangladesh, the USA will host Canada for a five-match T20I series.

All eight matches of these two bilateral series will take place at the Prairie View Cricket Complex in Houston, Texas.

“Ahead of the crucial Men’s T20 World Cup, these matches will be pivotal for our team to establish effective combinations, enhance team cohesion, and refine our strategies,” remarked Venu Pisike, Chairman of USA Cricket.

It’s noteworthy that Bangladesh is placed in Group D of the T20 World Cup 2024, alongside Sri Lanka, South Africa, Nepal, and the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, the USA finds itself in Group A, which also includes India, Pakistan, Canada, and Ireland.
