On Friday, Glamorgan secured the services of Pakistan’s left-arm paceman Mir Hamza as their overseas signing for the upcoming County Championship 2024.
Under his freshly penned deal with Glamorgan, Hamza is set to feature in the opening seven fixtures of the County Championship, slated to run from April 5 to September 29. Hamza, who has represented Pakistan in five Tests, holds impressive bowling figures of 4/32, achieved in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in 2023.
Despite his nascent Test career, Hamza has shown promise, claiming nine wickets at an average of 45. His extensive experience in first-class cricket, where he has taken 434 wickets in just 110 matches at an outstanding average of over 22, makes him a valuable addition to Glamorgan.
Furthermore, Hamza boasts a commendable record in T20 cricket, having picked up 58 wickets at an average of 29, including best bowling figures of 4/9.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Hamza stated, “I am thrilled to be joining Glamorgan for the County Championship this summer… It will be exciting to work with Grant again after working with him with Pakistan.”
Glamorgan head coach Grant Bradburn welcomed Hamza’s inclusion, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute both on and off the field. Bradburn anticipates that Hamza’s experience and skill will significantly enhance the team’s performance.
Currently, Hamza is representing Karachi Kings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, where he has impressed with six wickets in four appearances for the team.
