In a significant announcement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed plans to host South Africa and New Zealand for an ODI tri-series ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.

The decision followed a meeting between the newly-appointed PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the Chairman of Cricket South Africa (CSA), Mr. Lawson Naidoo, along with the Chairman of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), Mr. Roger Twose, during the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting in Dubai.

The agenda of the meeting centered on finalizing the ODI Tri-series between Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, scheduled for February 2025 in Pakistan, just before the ICC Champions Trophy.

The Tri-series received unanimous approval from all involved parties, including the host and both participating member boards.

Furthermore, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi extended a warm invitation to Mr. Roger Twose and Mr. Lawson Naidoo to visit Pakistan.

The last time Pakistan hosted a tri-series was in October 2004, featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe alongside the home team.

Expressing enthusiasm about the upcoming event, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi stated, “The Tri-series between Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand will be an exciting event, marking a significant return for Pakistan as hosts. I extend my gratitude to the heads of NZC and CSA for their willingness to participate in this Tri-series. The PCB eagerly anticipates hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, a prestigious event that will bring the top eight ODI teams to Pakistan.”
