Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq recently shared insights with the newly reinstated captain, Babar Azam.Babar Azam resumed his role as Pakistan’s white-ball captain during the first T20I against New Zealand.

However, persistent rainfall in Rawalpindi limited play to just two balls at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, leading to the match’s abandonment.Misbah-ul-Haq, renowned as Pakistan’s most successful Test captain with 26 wins, advised Babar Azam to leverage his experiences, improve tactical acumen, and learn from past mistakes as a leader.

“Captaining improves with experience and allows for continual growth. Babar must strengthen his tactical understanding,” Misbah shared during an interview with a local sports outlet.

“He should work on rectifying the tactical errors we’ve observed before,” he added. While acknowledging Azam’s role in fostering team unity, Misbah emphasized the importance of supporting players for the right reasons rather than the wrong ones.

“Babar must support players for valid reasons, not misguided ones. This is a crucial aspect Babar needs to grasp,” the former captain noted. The 49-year-old urged Azam to lead by example, setting high standards for performance and fitness, thereby motivating teammates to follow suit.“Ultimately, setting an example is paramount.

Through performance, fitness, and overall conduct, one must inspire others to emulate. This should be Babar’s guiding principle,” Misbah concluded.
