KARACHI: Hyderabad Kingsmen delivered a commanding all-round performance to secure a playoff spot in Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11, crushing Rawalpindiz at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing a daunting target of 245, Rawalpindiz crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 136 in 17.1 overs. The defeat capped off a disappointing campaign for Pindiz, who managed only one win in 10 matches.

Kingsmen entered the contest with a clear qualification equation restrict Rawalpindiz to 158 or below and they achieved it in emphatic fashion, combining explosive batting with a clinical bowling display.

Rawalpindiz’s chase got off to a shaky start as Shahzaib Khan departed early for just one run. Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khawaja briefly steadied the innings with a 43-run partnership, but Rizwan’s dismissal for 26—caught at deep square leg—once again highlighted his struggles this season.

The innings quickly unraveled thereafter. Kamran Ghulam fell for a duck, reducing Pindiz to 56-3 inside the powerplay. Although Sam Billings attempted a counterattack with a quick 23 off 12 balls, a middle-order collapse derailed any hopes of a comeback.

Khawaja stood firm amid the chaos, finishing unbeaten on 66 off 43 deliveries, including nine boundaries. However, lack of support from the other end meant Rawalpindiz never truly threatened the target.

Hunain Shah led the bowling charge for Kingsmen with an impressive four-wicket haul, supported well by a disciplined unit effort.

Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen set the tone with a blistering batting performance, piling up a massive 244-6 in their 20 overs after being put into bat.

Despite losing captain Marnus Labuschagne early for five, Maaz Sadaqat injected momentum into the innings with a fiery 28 off just 11 balls, featuring five fours and a six. His 54-run partnership with Usman Khan laid a solid foundation during the powerplay.

Usman Khan continued the assault, notching up his fifth PSL half-century with a fluent 54 off 26 balls, including four fours and four sixes. However, a brief stumble saw Kingsmen slip to 119-5 after quick wickets from Saad Masood.

The turning point came with a match-defining 108-run partnership between Kusal Perera and Glenn Maxwell. The duo not only stabilized the innings but also accelerated at the right time, pushing the total beyond 200 by the 17th over.

Maxwell was the standout performer, smashing 70 off 37 balls with eight fours and three sixes, while Perera remained unbeaten on 50 from 30 deliveries. A late cameo from Hassan Khan added the finishing touches to an imposing total.

For Rawalpindiz, Saad Masood was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets.

From explosive batting to disciplined bowling, Hyderabad Kingsmen delivered a complete performance when it mattered most. Their emphatic victory not only sealed a playoff berth but also sent a strong message to the rest of the competition.
