The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially unveiled the national squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, scheduled to be played next month.

The 16-member squad has been selected by the National Selection Committee for the ICC World Test Championship fixtures, with both matches set to take place in Bangladesh. The first Test will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka from May 8 to 12, followed by the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium from May 16 to 20.

Shan Masood will continue to lead the side in the longest format, while four uncapped players Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais, and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori have earned spots in the squad, signaling a focus on fresh talent.

Notably, five players Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan are currently participating in the ongoing NCA Red-Ball Camp in Lahore as part of preparations for the series.

The squad will assemble in Karachi on April 27 for a preparatory training camp, which will run until May 1. The team is scheduled to depart for Bangladesh on May 2.

Players involved in HBL PSL XI will join the camp after their respective teams complete their campaigns. Those featuring in the tournament final will travel directly to Bangladesh following the conclusion of the league.

In addition to the squad announcement, PCB has confirmed the coaching staff for the tour. Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as head coach for the red-ball series. Sarfaraz previously led Pakistan to major titles, including the ICC U19 World Cup in 2006 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. He also recently guided Pakistan U19 to victory in the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup as mentor/manager and worked with Pakistan Shaheens during their series against England Lions earlier this year.

Former Test cricketers Asad Shafiq and Umar Gul have been named as batting and bowling coaches, respectively, for the tour.
