Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam etched his name in the record books on Wednesday, becoming just the fourth player in men’s T20 cricket to score 100 half centuries.

The milestone came during Peshawar Zalmi’s clash against Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

With this achievement, Babar joins an elite list featuring David Warner, Virat Kohli and Jos Buttler.

Babar has been in outstanding form throughout PSL 11 and currently ranks among the top run-scorers. The right-hander has accumulated 301 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 75.25, maintaining a strike rate of 132.59.

He reached his historic 100th half-century with a composed unbeaten 71 off 51 deliveries, playing a key role in Zalmi’s dominant win.

Chasing a target of 155, Zalmi got off to a flying start as Mohammad Haris and Babar stitched together a brisk 75-run opening partnership. Haris contributed 35 runs before his dismissal, laying a solid foundation.

Babar then anchored the innings with calm authority, receiving support from Kusal Mendis, who added 21 runs in a steady partnership. After Mendis’ departure, the Zalmi captain ensured there were no late hiccups.

Remaining unbeaten on 71, Babar struck 10 boundaries and guided his side to victory with nine balls to spare.

Earlier, Zalmi’s decision to bowl first paid off as Quetta Gladiators struggled to gain momentum and were restricted to 154 in their 20 overs.

Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Basit starred with the ball, picking up crucial wickets to keep the opposition in check. Muqeem’s impressive spell also earned him his second Player of the Match award of the tournament.
