Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has paid a heartfelt tribute to Ben Stokes following the England all rounder’s announcement that he is retiring from international cricket, marking the end of one of the most remarkable careers in modern cricket.

Stokes confirmed his decision during England’s third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, bringing an end to an international career that lasted more than a decade. Throughout his journey, he established himself as one of cricket’s greatest match-winners, playing pivotal roles in England’s triumphs at the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Reacting to the news, Babar Azam shared an emotional message on his Instagram Story alongside a photograph of himself with Stokes. The former Pakistan captain praised the English all-rounder for his fearless approach, inspirational leadership, and ability to deliver in the biggest moments.

“A fearless competitor and an inspirational leader who delivered on the biggest stage, again and again. It was an honour to share the field with you. All the very best, Ben, for the next chapter,” Babar wrote.
Ben Stokes made his international debut for England in 2011 before earning his Test cap in 2013. Over the years, he evolved into one of the finest all-rounders of his generation, renowned for his aggressive batting, impactful bowling, and exceptional leadership.
As England’s Test captain, Stokes played a key role in transforming the team’s approach to red-ball cricket, introducing an attacking style that revitalised the side and produced memorable victories.
The left-handed all-rounder also retires as the leading six-hitter in Test cricket history, smashing 138 sixes in 122 Test matches.
Stokes finishes his illustrious Test career with 7,273 runs and 252 wickets, becoming only the second player in Test history, after South African legend Jacques Kallis, to achieve the rare milestone of 7,000 Test runs and 250 Test wickets.
His retirement brings the curtain down on an era defined by unforgettable performances, remarkable resilience, and countless match-winning contributions, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered as one of the greatest in England’s cricket history.
