Australia’s star pacer Mitchell Starc is set to make a long-awaited return to the Sydney Sixers for Big Bash League (BBL) Season 15, joining Pakistan captain Babar Azam in what promises to be one of the most exciting squads of the tournament.

The announcement was made through the Sixers’ official social media, confirming Starc’s comeback after more than a decade.
“After 11 seasons, Mitch Starc is back in magenta. He’s expected to link up with the squad following the Ashes series,” the team posted.
Starc’s Long-Awaited Return
The left-arm quick, who recently announced his retirement from T20I cricket, expressed his enthusiasm about returning to domestic T20 action.
“I’ve got no cricket scheduled between the fifth Test and the IPL at this stage,” Starc said. “It’s an opportunity to play some BBL cricket again. I’ve been part of the Sixers’ journey in the early years, so it’s nice to return in a playing role.”
He added that his current focus remains on the upcoming Ashes series but confirmed his intention to be available for selection afterward.
Starc last featured in the BBL during the 2014–15 season, where he delivered outstanding performances. Across 10 matches, he took 20 wickets at a stellar average of 14.85 and an economy rate of 7.92. His return is expected to significantly strengthen the Sixers’ bowling attack.
Star-Studded Sydney Sixers Lineup
With Starc’s addition, the Sydney Sixers boast a powerhouse lineup featuring Babar Azam, Steve Smith, and Josh Hazlewood—a blend of global stars and seasoned campaigners ready to light up the tournament.
Global Talent Set for BBL 15
BBL 15 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated seasons in the league’s history. This year’s overseas draft saw several top international players joining Australian franchises:
- Babar Azam → Sydney Sixers
- Mohammad Rizwan → Melbourne Renegades

- Haris Rauf (retained) → Melbourne Stars
The inclusion of Pakistani talent has added a new level of excitement for fans across both countries.
