The highly anticipated Pakistan India clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to proceed as scheduled following a successful round of discussions with an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation, sources have confirmed.

According to PCB spokesperson Amir Mir, a formal request regarding the fixture has been submitted to the Government of Pakistan after productive talks with ICC officials.

The breakthrough came during a high-level meeting held in Lahore on Sunday, attended by an ICC delegation led by Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul was also present at the meeting.

The development follows weeks of uncertainty surrounding the marquee encounter between the arch rivals, widely regarded as one of the most commercially and competitively significant fixtures in world cricket. Earlier, the Government of Pakistan had directed the national team not to take the field against India in Colombo, putting the February 15 clash in doubt.

The 20-team tournament has already been overshadowed by political tensions after Bangladesh declined to play matches in India over security concerns, leading to their replacement by Scotland. In response, Pakistan’s government barred the national side from participating in the high profile Group A fixture against co hosts India.

Pakistan, who opened their campaign with a victory over the Netherlands on February 7, risked losing two crucial points and suffering a major blow to their net run rate had the match been forfeited.

With dialogue now progressing positively, all indications suggest that the much awaited contest will go ahead, preserving both the competitive balance of the tournament and one of cricket’s biggest spectacles.
